My internship with Mami Marine Limited (MML) started in August 2015 as a Recruitment Executive. I interned for ten months and I was responsible for managing the recruitment database, staff payroll and headhunting etc. It is safe to say that if it was not for my internship at MML, I would not be where I am today. I developed lots of HR skills like confidence, networking skills and I gained a lot of worthwhile contacts through this. The most important thing I have gained from my internship is to always keep your eyes and ears open and never stop learning.

I was lucky to be part of the maiden edition of MML’s Employability Skills Training. This training woke me up from my slumber. I realized the importance of building up my network, growing my contact list wherever you find myself. I have the tendency to be very laid back and unbothered as long as I am doing my work effectively and efficiently. But through the continuous coaching and mentoring I received at MML, I realized that it is important to get involved in anything you can. The more you volunteer yourself and the more you put yourself forward for things, the employer will remember you and you never know what might happen in the future.
I have to say getting firsthand experience in HR has been amazing and MMLprovided me the opportunity to see what kind of environment I could be potentially working in. I also found it highly beneficial working with those who have a strong background in HR that way I have the ability to ask questions and get a good insight on what to expect in the future. It is one thing to read about it in books, but completely different when you put it into a real world environment. Thank you MML for this and every opportunity given to me. I have learned that one can never stop improving, learning, and seeking knowledge.
